PowerSchool Reports for Siblings
Overview
On a somewhat regular basis, students in PowerSchool should be audited to link siblings who are not currently linked. The following is a list of reports that will help this identification process. Each report shows different information and all can be filtered.
PowerSchool Sibling and Family Reports
1. Siblings List - Family on One Row
Select Home Address and Family Per Row from the drop downs. These students are linked.
Note that the address on this report is the student's address and not the contact's address.
2. Siblings List With One Row Per Student
Select Home Address and One Student Per Row. Note that the address on this report is the student's address and not the contact's address.
Sort by address.
Note: this is the contact's address and not the student address.
4. Family Members
This report shows siblings district wide. No address information.
4.
Students Same Mailing Address - Possible Siblings
sqlReports > Siblings and Family > Students Same Mailing Address-Possible Siblings
Shows siblings across district OR filter by school.
Level Data Reports to Find Siblings and Students Living in the Same Household
Level Data has two reports that are helpful for finding siblings. These reports are accessed from the Start page at the bottom of the navigation bar. Click RealTime Reports to get to the reports below. Each report has a list of filters on the left.
Family Lists by Home Phone
This report can be used to find siblings using the contact phone number. The last column of the report shows a phone match. This allows you to sort by that column instead of scrolling the list looking for names. Then you can look at the address to confirm they live at the same address. Remember that you will find matches for students who are not living in the same household if the parent/guardian in that household is an emergency contact for another student. This is going to show you duplicate contact addresses.
Family Lists by Street Address
This is similar
to the Family Lists by Phone Number except the last column indicates
street matches and not phone matches. It also has an address column that
you can use. Use the List Students group function to show the Family ID which is an indication that the students are already linked.
Build a Student List to Show the Family ID
With either of the two Level Data reports above, you can use Make a Current Selection to show if a family link exists for those that are siblings. Once they are the current selection, you can use the Create a List group function to show a column for Family ID which will tell you if they are already
linked. The name of this field is "Family_Ident." You can see the Family
ID in the Family column. When there is no number in that column, it
means the students are not linked.

Note: this process is not for identifying students' FRL status. Click
here for the article that describes that process.
