There are several types of notifications/alerts that we use with PowerSchool. They are:
We can set up a notification to anyone whenever a specific page is filled out during registration or the annual student update. For example, the special services team gets an email whenever someone completes form E. Special Services form during registration. 
There is now functionality to add a notification based on a field value. 
Ecollect Registration Portal Notifications
This is a notification that is sent to specific people whenever someone fills out the initial form in the registration portal. These notifications are set up by PowerSchool so we have to send them changes.
Student Transfer Notifications
This is a plug-in shared by someone in the Powerschool community. A plug in adds functionality that is customized by anyone other than PowerSchool. In this case, whenever there is a change to a transfer record, email notifications are sent to the school admin and data team members.
Student Alerts/MBA Creator Alerts
These alerts give us the ability to put something in the header of a student record.  We have many, many alerts for everything from an extracurricular activity, waitlists, counselors, translators needed, etc. These alerts are created with a unique icon that appears in the header. They can be triggered by various criteria.
