| Per James, 2/11/2021:
It should not be 01 - Operating School District, as ADM should not be attributed to an exchange Student.
It should be either 07, 09 or 98 depending on the funding source for the exchange student's tuition. |
Per Michele Devinos
The answer to the coding of School Choice depends
if you are talking about School Choice attending your school from
another district (we call these School Choice FROM or School Choice IN)
or School Choice residing in your district and attending
another district (we call these School Choice TO or School Choice OUT).
Here are some notes we have based on questions
asked over the years. If anyone sees something that seems inaccurate,
please let us know!
Sample Settings for a School Choice FROM Another District
A student that resides in another district but is attending our
district (South Burlington SD) as part of the School Choice program
should be enrolled at South Burlington High School in PowerSchool.
- South Burlington Settings as the Receiving School:
- The student's District of Residence (ADMTDIST)
must be set to the school district where the student resides (E.g., T126
for Milton). Transfer Info > Edit Enrollment Record > ADMTDIST
- The
Funding Source (FUNDSOURCE) must be set to "(02) Other VT School
District." Transfer Info > Edit Enrollment Record > FUNDSOURCE
- The
ADMINSTAT must be set (by the school the student is attending) to be
set to "School Choice Student (02)." Transfer Info > Edit Enrollment
Record > ADMINSTAT
- The ADM would then be awarded to the sending school (in this example, Milton School District).
Sample Settings for a School Choice TO Another District
A student that resides in our district (South
Burlington SD), but is attending another district as part of the School
Choice program. The student must be transferred out of SBHS. We have a
separate “school” in PowerSchool for “Out of
District” students. We transfer School Choice students over to the Out
of District School in PowerSchool. The following settings must be used
for the ADM to be awarded properly.
- South Burlington Settings as the Sending School:
- The student should be transferred to the Out of District School in PowerSchool.
- The student should be enrolled in the applicable School Choice course/section (E.g., "School Choice TO Milton").
- Receiving School Settings:
If the student does not end up on our ADM report (South Burlington ADM),
SBSD must reach out to the receiving school to have them verify the
following settings on their end. - The student's District of Residence
(ADMTDIST) must be set to the school district where the student resides
(E.g., T191 for South Burlington).
- The Funding Source (FUNDSOURCE) must be set to "(02) Other VT School District."
- The ADMINSTAT must be set (by the school the student is attending) to "School Choice Student (02)."
- The ADM would then be awarded to the sending school (in this example, South Burlington School District).
