Hi Gloria,
If you count your contact with these students as an attendance event, than please mark them as present for those days you had contact with those students and or parents.

After
10 days of absences without contact, you are required to report them as exited. If you were in contact with these people, then that is not the case, and you don't need to exit them.

These students and families would not get notified directly because of this reporting to the best of my knowledge. So I wouldn't worry much about what you report effecting them. We use this data for federal funding reporting and taxes.

Please try and report accurately and according to the rules required by law.

Hi James,
We are discussing our attendance policies. Is it considered contact if we are calling them everyday and they don’t answer the phone?

I wouldn't consider that contact if they don't answer.

One more question. We have a robocall that goes out to the parents of all kids that are absent. We can see by the robocall report that they answered or not. Is that considered contact?  We are trying to develop consistent processes throughout the district.

I contacted our legal department as I'm not sure.
I'll let you know when they are able to get back to me.
Did not get back to me and I decided it was pretty clear that a recorded call does not count as contact.  gjo

See attachment for spreadsheet that shows an example of the coding and the 10 day rule based on a student's attendance.
